Constructive Distraction: xoJane

Procrastination doesn't have to be a total waste of time. This post highlights websites to make your time avoiding writing research papers and reading textbooks productive.

xoJane founder, Jane Pratt is a one-stop shop for everything social issues to the latest fashion. Writers share their personal stories and experiences to create an open forum for readers.

One of the site's best sections is Issues. Here writers cover current events and hot-button issues around the world from personal perspectives. Of course, they do share the facts and back arguments when necessary. But don't be fooled, thinking this is section is an on-going political debate. It's merely a place for readers to catch up with the times and read about it from someone else's perspective.

Another great feature is Jane's weekly 7 Things I Couldn't Get Anyone to Write About. Though she doesn't delve into each topic, she gives you the best links on the web to cover said topics.

The next time you're killing time on Facebook, open a new tab and head over to xoJane. Some new material and perspectives does the brain good.

Until next time, kiddies...

I have this obsession with making sure my pout is super smooth. This meant dedicating a toothbrush for my lips and making sure every possible bit of dryness was scrubbed away. But after a recent trip to one of my favorite stores, Lush, I found a new product that's pretty stellar.

At the register, there are these little lip scrub pots with yummy flavors like Bubblegum, Popcorn, and Mint Julips. Curious about the product, I bought the Bubblegum flavor. It works really well! This is a great product to use before bed and in the morning to prep for a bold lip color. I'm not super fond of this flavor, so I'm totally going to go for Mint Julips next time. But it is definitely worth it for the scrubbing power.

This will set you back $10, but it's a great find. It's available here or at Lush stores.

Things are starting to heat up here in the D, and one of life's biggest concerns is your makeup melting off in the summer heat. If I could get away with going au natural, I would bow out of this never-ending summertime battle but sadly I cannot.

So, I like to keep things airy by using BB creams and other lightweight products.

To keep my pout moisturized without feeling heavy I opt for the Nivea "A Kiss of" collection.

My favorite, pictured right, is "A Kiss of Mint & Minerals." The cool mint tingle on a hot summer day is a nice touch.

You can find "A Kiss of Mint & Minerals" and the rest of the "A Kiss of" collection at any drug- or beauty store. I've purchased this balm from Ulta, Target and CVS.
