Please Tweet Responsibly

Spike Lee unintentionally reminded us that technology, especially social media, is a powerful tool--use it wisely. Attempting to make dramatic call-to-action for his followers, he tweeted what he thought was the home address of George Zimmerman, the possibly racially-motivated murder in the Trayvon Martin case.

Unfortunately, the address Lee tweeted was not Zimmerman's, but an elderly couple with no connection to Zimmerman or Martin or the case. The couple with bombarded with calls and threats. They stayed in a hotel for a few nights because of the activity occurring around their home.

With a few key strokes, Lee tarnished his image and scarred innocent people.

This incident is a quick reminder to check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Or someone else.

Be careful what you post, and always check your facts.

Rock out, kiddies.
